Ben Paulding, an experienced educator, has instructed the Agbekor Society’s Ashanti Music Section, appeared as a guest lecturer presenting on Kete at the New England Conservatory, taught Ghanaian drum and dance classes at World Rhythms Dance and Fitness in Somerville, MA, and coached student cultural troupes at the Wesley Girls College in Kumasi.


Teaching Positions

Agbekor Drum and Dance Society Boston, MA

Ben has instructed the Agbekor Society's Ashanti Music Section, and has taught public drum and dance classes for ADDS at World Rhythms Dance and Fitness in Somerville, Massachusetts.

Zumix | East Boston, MA

Ben taught at award-winning Boston youth music center Zumix (National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award Winner, 2011). Ben maintained a weekly roster of 20 private drum students, founded and directed the Zumix Drumline, and co-directed the Zumix Latin Ensemble.

 

Vic Firth Education Team | International

 Ben Paulding is a member of the Vic Firth Education Team, and has attended Vic Firth Private Drum Teacher professional development seminars in Indianapolis, Indiana

International Community School Kumasi, Ghana

With upwards of 180 students, Ben currently teaches music at the International Community School. He directs the ICS Pep Band, co-directs the African Music and Dance Club, and teaches general music in the middle school.

Centre for National Culture | Kumasi, Ghana

While completing his one year, full time attachment at the Centre for National Culture, Ben was deployed with members of the Centre's resident Ammamreso Agofomma folkloric troupe to teach traditional Ghanaian drum and dance at elementary, middle, and high schools throughout the Ashanti Region.
