During the beginning of the Covid lockdown, I recorded and uploaded loops of Ghanaian timeline bell patterns for my students to practice with at home. After receiving multiple requests to share these recordings, I began a series on YouTube for musicians to freely study and practice along with these classic Ghanaian bell patterns.
Ben Paulding is an American percussionist currently based in Kumasi, Ghana. Specializing in drumset and traditional Ghanaian percussion, Ben has spent the past two years living in West Africa, extensively performing and studying Ashanti royal drum music. With over 200 performances in Africa, Ben currently plays with the Centre for National Culture, the Ashanti King’s Fontomfrom ensemble, and the renowned Nsuase Kete group.
